The Call That Changed My Procurement Process

It was a Tuesday afternoon in late February 2025. Our quality manager, Dave, walked into my cubicle with that look—the one that says “I need something yesterday.” A major customer audit was scheduled for three weeks out, and Dave had just discovered that half of our floor calipers were out of calibration and two micrometers were physically worn. He needed a replacement set fast.

And that test equipment rental experience? I now maintain a list of approved rental vendors for different equipment categories—differential pressure sensors, thermal cameras, vibration analyzers. When you’re a one-person procurement office, you need systems, not heroics.
